What investor due diligence should cover

Know what you are buying into before the money moves

Due diligence is the systematic review of a company, property or project before you invest.

A proper review covers corporate records and ownership, key contracts, debts and liens, litigation, licences and permits, employment, tax and, for land and projects, title, zoning and environmental status.

The point is not a thick report. It is a short list of findings and the specific protections to negotiate because of them: price changes, conditions, warranties, escrows or walking away.
